Growth and Branching of Wrinkles in Deposited Films
A model is developed to describe the generation and propagation of wrinkles in deposited thin films resulting from compressive stress relief. The basis of the model is in a discontinuous jump process. Dimensions and propagation speed of wrinkles are calculated and bifurcation and treeing behaviour is explained.
