Adsorption isotherms for ethylacetate and furfural on activated carbon from supercritical carbon dioxide
Supercritical adsorption equilibria have a significant role in defining supercritical adsorption behaviour. In this paper, the equilibrium loadings of ethylacetate and furfural from supercritical carbon dioxide on activated carbon at fixed CO2 densities are reported. The experimental data were obtained by measuring the outlet concentration of solute eluted from a column packed with activated carbon until the effluent reached the output concentration. The fit of the adsorption isotherms showed that the Langmuir model could correlated the experimental data for ethylacetate satisfactorily and with more simplicity versus other tested models whereas Freundlich isotherm is suitable to fit the adsorption data of furfural on activated carbon.
