A new completion philosophy for horizontal wells
In mature areas, well construction costs are the primary obstacle to development of marginal fields. introducing more targets into one wellpath by use of horizontal webs can reduce exploratory risk. To reduce horizontal web costs, a new casing and completion philosophy that eliminates the intermediate casing string across the buildup section was developed. Substantial savings result from reduced logging and casing programs. Well costs can be reduced by approximately 30% by applying the new concept. Additional savings can be realized by drilling the web from the kickoff point in one bit run.
