Offshore drilling in greater water depths has led to dramatic increases in load requirements for landing strings. Because landing strings are new, nonstandard, and usually application-specific, there are no industry specifications or guidelines relating specifically to these products. The full-length paper explores the issues related to landing strings and provides a method for their design and specification.
