Characteristics and Fabrication of Polymer Light Emitting Diode using Copolymer having Perylene and Triazine Moieties in the Polymer Side Chain
E-mail:
We have synthesized a novel nonconjugated blue light-emitting copolymer containing perylene moieties as light-emitting units and triazine noieties as electron transporting units in the polymer side chains. The copolymer was very soluble in most organic solvents, e.g., monochlorobenzene, tetrahydrofuran, chloroform, and benzene. A single-layered electroluminescence (EL) device having the configuration of ITO/non-conjugated blue light-emitting copolymer/Al exhibited its maximum external quantum efficiency and good carrier balance when the triazine content was 30 %. The device emitted blue light corresponding to the emission of the perylene moieties. The drive voltage decreased dramatically below 5 V, and the CIE coordinates were x=0.16, y=0.17 A device using the copolymer doped with a Ir(ppy)3 as a phosphorescent dye showed an especially high quantum efficiency of 0.03.
