A multi-crucible Bridgman furnace has been developed for industrial growth of 4" diameter Li2B4O7 (LBO) single crystals and 3-6 boules can be grown in the furnace at the same time. The growth conditions were optimized and growth defects, such as twins, bubbles and striations, were investigated. Using O82 mm LBO crystal as seed, bubble-free, twin-free and striation-free LBO crystals 105 turn in diameter and 80-120 turn in length were reproducibly grown along drop110 drop direction. Commercial availability of O4" Li2B4O7 crystal boules has been realized in our laboratory and it indicated the validity of the furnace for mass-production of 4" Li2B4O7 crystals.
