AN HEXAGONAL COLUMNAR MESOPHASE IN HALF-DISK-SHAPED THALLIUM (I) COMPLEXES
Communication: The first example of a discotic thallium (I) metallomesogen is reported. The complex is formed by the association of two half-disk-shaped molecules (see figure) and the properties of the liquid crystalline material studied using DSC and X-ray diffraction. The materials, with varying numbers of alkyl groups bonded to the central aromatic cores, are also compared with the previously known copper analogues.
