THE SYNTHESIS AND SPECTROSCOPIC PROPERTIES OF ORGANOMETALLIC CYANINE ANALOGS
Communication: Organometallic compounds with large transition dipole moments and small energy gaps are of potential interest as second- and third-order nonlinear optical materials. Organometallic anaologues of cyanines with electropositive metal centers as the end groups, in which the electronic coupling between the transition metal and the organic fragment is strong, should lead to improved extinction coefficients and great potential in nonlinear optics applications.
