Poly(butyl acrylate)/Poly(methyl methacrylate) 다층구조 고무입자의 제조
Preparation of Multilayered Poly(butyl acrylate)/Poly(methyl methacrylate) Rubber Particles
초록
Poly(butyl acrylate) (PBA)를 core로 하고 poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA)를 shell로 하는 core/shell 다층구조 고무 입자를 두 단계의 유화중합으로 제조하였다. Core 중합에서는 seed 유화중합법으로 입자의 수를 조절하였으며, shell 중합에서는 semi-batch 방법으로 PMMA 단일 중합체의 형성을 억제하였다. 반응온도, 개시제, 유화제의 양 등 반응조건의 변화에 따른 PBA core 입자의 크기와 분포를 조사하여, 최적조건에서 core 입자를 합성하고, 이 위에 shell을 형성시켜 core/shell 구조의 고무입자를 얻었다. Core와 shell 간의 그래프팅의 존재와 그 효율을 용매추출법과 크로마토그래피 방법으로 조사하였다. 최종 조건에서 합성된 core/shell입자의 수평균 입자크기는 137nm정도이었으며, 그래프팅 효율은 60%정도이었다.
Core/shell rubber particles, which contain poly(butyl acrylate) (PBA) as a rubery core and poly(methyl methacrylate) (PMMA) as a glassy shell, were prepared by two-step emulsion polymerization. A seeded emulsion polymerization with semi-batch process was employed to keep the particles free of shell-only particles. Particle size was controlled by regulating the reaction temperature, contents of initiator and emulsifier. Grafting of PMMA onto PBA and its efficiency were determined by a solvent extraction and a chromatographic technique. The core/shell particles with the number average diameter of 137 nm and the grafting efficiency of 60% were obtained by an optimized polymerization condition.
