Influence of added packing on dispersed phase hold-up and volumetric mass transfer coefficient in liquid pulsed column
The influence of high porosity packing in the interplate spaces of liquid pulsed column on its performance is examined using benzoic acid and n-butyric acid as solutes for kerosene-solute-water system. Volumetric mass transfer coefficient is found to increase by about 4 times for the range of operation of industrial importance. The increase in the coefficient is attributed to the increase in the interfacial area between the phases.
