Membrane potential studies on inorganic ionexchange membrane -Electrochemical characterisation of titanium dioxide membrane
Preparation of titanium dioxide membrane using Kynar (Vinyldene fluoride resin) as binder has been carried out with the object of determination of its electrochemical characteristics, permselectivity and fixed change density on the basis of membrane potential measurements using sodium, magnesium and aluminium chloride solutions. Variation of these electrochemical parameters with concentration and pH has also been investigated. A tendency towards inversion in the nature of ion selectivity is observed when electrolyte solutions having progressively lowered pH are used.
