Simulating the Wear Behaviour of Cutting Tools using the Discrete Element Method
To investigate the wear behavior of the cutting tool and the cut abrasive polymer material the dominating tribological processes are studied using the discrete element method (DEM). The required models of the interaction between the particles are calculated from the macroscopic material behavior. The main objective of this work is to develop a material model representing the viscoelastic-plastic behavior of the cut polymer material. The used model is presented and validated in comparison to experimental data.
