Intramolecular interactions leading to quasicubane cages. Crystal structure of [Mo-2(NO)(2)(CO)(4){mu-kappa(2);kappa(1)-S2C(H)PCy3}(2)]
Hydride addition to the central carbon of the S2CPCy3 chelate in [MoBr(NO)(CO)(2)(eta(2)-S2CPCy3)] (1) is accompanied by loss of Br- leading to [Mo-2(NO)(2)(CO)(4){S2C(H)PCy3}(2)] (2), containing two fragments of ''Mo(NO)(CO)(2){eta(2)-S2C(H)PCy3}'' which are bridged by a sulfur atom of each S2C(H)PCy3- ligand. Crystallography and H-1 NMR reveal the existence of H ... S interactions which may induce the adoption of the quasicubane structure.
