The flight control system of the Lavi light multimission fighter is described. The control laws design philosophy is given along with the control laws development, the flying qualities requirements and the final structure of the pitch axis (DFCS). The simulation phase is covered along with special control laws features. The question ’how does the Lavi fly?’ is addressed. Problems uncovered during flights, and solutions found, are detailed and the flying qualities data are given. Finally the programme status is explained.
