The idealised population balance, derived by Bransom, for the fluidized-bed crystallizer is presented and analysed. The physical sense and accuracy of the model are improved. Operating conditions at steady State without seeding are considered, taking into account the attrition in the population balance equation. Experimental product particle size distributions obtained from such crystallizers are presented.
