제목 Effect of aromatic solvents on the formation of organogels from lecithin-calcium chloride mixture
초록 Lecithin can self-assemble to form reverse spherical micelles in nonpolar organic solvents. When inorganic salts such as calcium chloride (CaCl2) are added to lecithin solutions, reverse spherical micelles can be transformed into reverse cylindrical micelles. Such reverse cylindrical micelles can be entangled to form oraganogels. In this study, we investigated the effect of the aromatic solvents on the formation of organogels by mixtures of lecithin and CaCl2. Rheometer was used to investigate the rheological properties of the samples such as viscosity, elastic modulus(G’), viscous modulus(G”). Fourier transfer infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) was used to examine the interactions between lecithin headgroup and CaCl2. The strength of the interaction increased in the following order: benzene > toluene > xylene and we found that the strength of interactions is closely related to the rheological properties of the samples.​
