Feeding systems for lignite into novel high pressure gasifiers should not only operate continuously and maintain a perfect sealing against the reactor, but also lead to a significant improvement in the energy efficiency of the gasification process. A potential solution is the use of slurry pumps, which are able to convey wet substances with high solids contents. However, their application is only conceivable with lignite modified to enable the feeding and guaranteeing high sealing against the high pressure reactor. The performed research shows solutions for such conditioning of dry lignite.
